Ginni AI helps you track and record your sales calls to gain valuable insights. This guide will walk you through the process of setting up call recording with Sailtrail app on your mobile device, ensuring your calls are properly captured and analyzed.

Step 1: Enable Built-In Call Recording on Your Device

Before Sailtrail can access your calls, you need to ensure your phone is recording them:

  1. Open your phone's dialer app

  2. Tap on the menu (three lines or dots) in the top right corner (Samsung/Oppo/Realme) or bottom left corner (Xiaomi)

  3. Select "Settings"

  4. Choose "Call Recording"

  5. Enable "Record Calls Automatically"

Note: The exact steps may vary depending on your phone model and manufacturer.

Step 2: Select the SIM Card for Call Recording

First, you need to select which SIM card to track for call recording:

  1. Open the Sailtrail app

  2. Go to "Settings" (gear icon in the bottom navigation)

  3. In the "Call Tracking" section, ensure "Track SIM Cards" is set to the specific SIM that you use for your work sales calls.

Step 3: Enable Call Recording Settings

Next, enable the call recording feature in Sailtrail:

  1. In the Sailtrail app Settings, scroll down to Call Recording section and tap on "Recording Settings" button

  2. In the Recording Settings screen, make sure "Enable call recordings" is checked

Step 4: Select Built-In Recorder

Now, choose the built-in recorder method:

  1. Under "SIM Call Recording," select "Use Built-In Call Recorder" (this is required)

  2. Make sure the "Use Salestrail Call Recorder" option is unchecked

Step 5: Select Recording Directory

Sailtrail needs to know where your phone stores call recordings:

  1. In the Recording Settings screen, tap "Select Directory"

  2. Navigate to your phone's call recording folder

    • For Xiaomi phones: Navigate to "MIUI > sound_recorder > call_rec"

    • For Samsung phones: You can usually select "Use Default"

    • For other phone brands: Look for a folder containing recorded calls

  3. Tap "USE THIS FOLDER" once you've located the right directory

  4. When prompted, tap "ALLOW" to give Sailtrail permission to access files in this folder

  5. You'll see the selected directory path displayed in the app, confirming it's been set correctly

Step 6: Verify Your Setup

Your setup is complete when:

  • "Enable call recordings" is checked

  • "Use Built-In Call Recorder" is selected

  • Your recording directory path is displayed

Making a Test Call

It's recommended to make a test call to ensure everything is working properly:

  1. Call a friend or colleague

  2. Speak for at least 30 seconds

  3. End the call

  4. Open the Sailtrail app and go to the call you just recorded to check if the call appears and has recording available

Troubleshooting

If your calls aren't being recorded or synchronized:

  • Google Dialer Issue: Some phones use Google Dialer, which doesn't support built-in recording. If your phone has Google Dialer, you'll need to use the Salestrail Recorder option instead.

  • Battery Optimization: Ensure battery optimization is disabled for both Sailtrail and your phone's recording app.

  • Permissions: Double-check that all required permissions are granted.

Important Notes

  • Call recording is only available on Android devices.

  • Always comply with local laws regarding call recording. In many regions, you must inform the other party that the call is being recorded.
